Software Development
Software is where a robot becomes mission-capable. We have built the stacks that run on active operational platforms.
The software that controls an unmanned platform in a defence environment carries requirements that
commercial robotics software does not. It must function in GPS-denied terrain, sustain encrypted
communication under contested RF conditions, make real-time decisions with degraded sensor inputs,
and never fail at a moment that puts an operator at risk.
THRSL's software team has built and deployed software at exactly this standard — on platforms that are in
active service with the Indian Army and tested in collaboration with DRDO and BEL. We do not begin an
engagement by adapting a commercial framework. We begin by understanding the operational
requirement.
What We Build
Autonomous Navigation &
Mission Execution
Path planning, obstacle avoidance, and terrain-adaptive navigation for UGVs operating in denied, degraded, and disconnected environments. Our navigation stacks are designed for real terrain — not flat-surface test tracks — and have been validated in field conditions including loose soil, gradient changes, and unstructured obstacles.
AI/ML Perception &
Situational Awareness
Target detection, multi-class object recognition, and sensor fusion modules trained on defence-relevant datasets. Our perception systems have been built to operate in low-light, partial occlusion, and high-clutter scenarios — the conditions that matter operationally, not the clean conditions that produce good benchmark numbers
Command & Control
(C2) Interfaces
Operator control units and mission management dashboards built for field use — not for a development environment. Designed around operator cognitive load, latency constraints, and the need for rapid decision-making under pressure. Built to MIL-STD usability standards and tested with actual operators.
Embedded Firmware &
Real-Time OS
Low-level firmware for actuators, payloads, communication modules, and sensor arrays. RTOS integration for time-critical applications where scheduling jitter has operational consequences. Delivered with full source documentation, build reproducibility, and audit trails for defence procurement compliance.
Cybersecurity & Secure
Communication Stacks
Encrypted communication protocols, air-gap-ready architecture,
and minimal-attack-surface system design. Security is not an
add-on in our software — it is a design constraint from the first
architecture decision.
What Sets Our Software Apart
Built on Operational
Feedback
Our software has been refined through actual deployments, not just lab testing. Operator feedback from field environments has shaped every major subsystem — from how the navigation stack handles edge cases to how the C2 interface presents information under time pressure.
Full IP
Ownership
All software developed by THRSL is fully owned by THRSL, with complete source code, documentation, and licensing clarity — a requirement that matters when defence procurement audits or platform lifecycle decisions require code-level accountability.
Civilian-to-Defence-Grade
Engineering Discipline
Our software practices include version-controlled development, structured testing protocols, configuration management, and formal release procedures — the engineering discipline that defence programmes require, applied consistently.
